This 303 came to us with the usual switch replacement needs. The original Roland TB303 switches, suplied by Alps, are well known to fail after a period of time, mainly due to the fact they are not sealed. Like for like replacements switches are available on eBay, however they will eventually be prone to the same fate. Here at Vudu Labz HQ, we believe in ‘do it right and do it once’.

We supply sealed (IP67) replacement switches in our store, rated for over 1 million operations. These switches are a signifcant improvement on those widely available elsewhere and well worth the investment. Due to the size of the stem being slightly larger than the switch cap fitting slot, we carefully modify each switch, providing the added benefit they are a very snug fit.

With the unit opened, the boards can be removed for access to the switches. Note the wires routed under the board; care must be taken not to pinch these during reassembley. Some folks may prefer to work of the switches by just flipping the board up as oriented in the above picture, however the Vudu way is to futher disassemble the board to provide better access:

With the switches removed, the replacements can be installed and the magic restored to this beauty!
